Why not couple your less expensive, yet thoughtful, gift with an explanation of why you chose to bless her with that particular gift? Move the focus off money and onto what part of who she is motivated your choice of a gift. Keep it positive - telling her that she spends too much money so you have nothing left to buy her a gift is NOT the appropriate thing to say.Old Fashioned Marriagehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09241184643141521461noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8723628156599645798.post-37654278012287903892012-12-14T21:52:36.643-06:002012-12-14T21:52:36.643-06:00It sounds like you and your husband have taken a l...It sounds like you and your husband have taken a lot of the commercial distractions out of gifting. By today's standards it is LOW - I am only permitted to spend $10 on him per special occassion. Even if money was not very tight, making this part of a tradition would be incredibly meaningful. And when money is tight, it also emphasizes the worth of our partner, that we transcend the everyday troubles to find a way to touch their heart and give you love and intent.
